Milton K. Wong
Milton K. Wong was born and raised in Vancouver and graduated from the University
of British Columbia. He founded M.K.Wong & Associates Ltd. (MKW) in 1980 to
provide investment-counseling services to pension plans, foundations, mutual funds
and individuals. MKW was acquired by Hongkong Bank of Canada in 1996 and he is
currently Chairman of HSBC Asset Management Canada managing $3.8 billion in assets.
HSBC Asset Management Canada is a member of the HSBC Asset Management Group, managing
global assets exceeding $59 Billion (Cdn). In addition to his professional
responsibilities, he was the chairman and CEO of the 4th World Chinese Entrepreneurs
Convention which was held in Vancouver, August 25 to 28, 1997. The occasion marked
the first time this prestigious event took place outside Asia. Milt, who
lives in Vancouver with his wife, Fei, and their three daughters, was awarded
Socially Responsible Entrepreneur of the Year in 1994. He is known for his extensive
community involvement and has become adept at dividing his leadership skills between
his work and the community. He has played a pivotal role in establishing and continuing
to support several high-profile institutions and events around Vancouver, including
Science World, the UBC Portfolio Management Programme, and the Canadian International
Dragon Boat Festival. His participation in the life of the city is ongoing: he
is a member of the advisory council with UBCs faculty of commerce; he is
founding chairman of the Dragon Boat Festival; and he is an advisory board member
with the Salvation Army. He has been awarded the Civic Award form the City of
Vancouver, the Distinguished Leadership Award from Simon Fraser University; the
Order of Canada, and, most recently, Honour Roll distinction from MacLeans
magazine. |
